Takedown / DMCA

Eastern Diary is a small personal site, operated by a single individual on a non-commercial basis. Removal requests are reviewed individually as time permits. We do not commit to specific response times.

This page explains how to make a request and what we ask in return.

If you wrote the original entry on anond

If you posted an entry on Hatena Anonymous Diary and a page on this site quotes it, you may ask for the page to be removed.

Because the original entries are anonymous, we cannot identify you from your name or email alone. To establish authorship, we ask for a verifiable signal from the entry itself. Without that signal, we will not act on a request.

The process:

  1. Email takedown@easterndiary.com with:
  • The URL of the page on this site you want removed.
  • The URL of your original entry on anond.hatelabo.jp.
  1. We reply with a short one-time verification token.
  2. You confirm authorship in one of the following ways:
  • (Preferred) Edit your original anond entry to include the token somewhere in the body. Tell us when it's done.
  • Post a new entry on anond from the same posting session that contains the token and a link back to the original entry. Tell us the URL of the new entry.
  1. Once we see the token from your own posting session, we treat you as the author and proceed.

Requests that skip this verification, or where the token is never confirmed, will be paused indefinitely. We don't publish requests or share your contact details.

If you believe a page on this site infringes a copyright

If you are not the original anond author but you believe a page on this site uses content in a way that infringes a copyright you hold, email dmca@easterndiary.com with:

  1. Your name and contact email.
  2. The URL of the page you want removed.
  3. A description of the copyrighted work involved and how the page is alleged to infringe it.
  4. Evidence that you are the rightsholder or are authorized to act on their behalf.
  5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information you provide is accurate.

This is treated as a request under the spirit of the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512. Eastern Diary is operated by a single individual and does not have a registered DMCA agent; we respond to these requests directly when we can.

Requests without sufficient information or evidence may be declined or paused.

What we may do

For any request — author-side or copyright-side — we may:

  • Acknowledge receipt.
  • Ask for additional proof or clarification.
  • Unpublish the page if we are satisfied with the request.
  • Decline the request if we cannot verify it, or pause it indefinitely until we have more information.
  • Keep a private record of the request and our handling. We do not publish requests, tokens, or contact details.

We do not commit to any specific response time, and we reserve the right to decline requests we cannot verify in good faith.

A note on this site

Eastern Diary translates each entry faithfully and presents it as a quoted block, alongside a separate reading note from an editorial persona. The site is non-commercial, does not run advertising networks, and does not accept user-submitted content. As a result, request handling depends on personal availability.
